Leamington Mission Health Expo at Peace Festival

Many visitors took the opportunity to experience Leamington Mission’s Health Expo for the second year running held at Leamington’s annual Peace festival in Leam Park, held over the weekend of 18 and 19 June.

A Health Expo involves working your way around 7 Health Stations to obtain some basic health measurements. The Health Stations include Height and Weight, Blood Pressure, and advice on Water Intake. Then overall fitness, measured by checking Resting Pulse after Exercise, and lung capacity called Peak Flow. To finish the results are fed into a computer software analysis programme. A final consultancy table offers people the chance to discuss their results and receive advice.

Altogether an estimated 150 people passed through the tent. Encouragingly, a number of participants mentioned how they had visited last year and were returning to see if there had been any change.

Also on offer were children’s craft activities. With Father’s Day falling that weekend this provided a timely occasion for the children to make personal cards.

A follow-up programme is scheduled for 16 July, a month later, with a challenge for people to come and see what difference any health changes they may have implemented, have made to their results.
